US plans to arm Syrian opposition contradict Russian-US agreements on calling Geneva 2 Conference - Lavrov

Plans by the United States to arm the Syrian opposition and develop strike scenarios for Syria contradict the Russian-U.S. agreements to hold an international conference on Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"If our US partners are currently putting the emphasis in the Syrian issue on arming the opposition and the release of plans, which, judging by everything, are being prepared, to strike the Syrian government's positions, then this does not comply with but contradicts the agreement to hold a conference without preliminary conditions," Lavrov said at a news conference in Moscow on Wednesday.
