Miss New York Kira Kazantsev was crowned Miss America 2015 on Sunday night in Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall, the birthplace of the legendary beauty pageant.
During her year as Miss America she will serve as spokeswoman for education and promote her platform, Love Shouldn't Hurt: Protecting Women Against Domestic Violence, as well as act as the official National Goodwill Ambassador for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
Kazantsev also won a $50,000 scholarship to continue her education to pursue a career in international diplomacy. To achieve this goal Kazantsev wants to obtain a Juris Doctor and a master's degree in business administration.
Kazantsev, 22, is a daughter of Russian immigrants. She was born in New York and attended Las Lomas High School and is a graduate of Hofstra University.
Miss America Organization is the world's largest provider of scholarships to women in the world. Each year it offers more than $40 million in scholarships.
