Number Of Putin`s, Medvedev`s Supporters Growing In Russia - Poll

The number of Russians who are satisfied with the work of the president has gone up five percentage points last month, Russian Interfax news agency reported on 26 September, quoting Levada Centre sociological studies.
In August, 63 per cent of those polled said they were satisfied with Vladimir Putin's work as president, compared to 68 per cent in September, according to a poll conducted among 1,600 respondents in 130 towns and villages in 45 regions of the Russian Federation on 21-24 September. 

The percentage of those who are dissatisfied with his work dropped from 35 per cent to 31 per cent. 

Prime Minister Dmitriy Medvedev's approval rating has also went up from 57 per cent in August to 61 per cent in September. The number of those dissatisfied with his work dropped from 41 per cent to 38 per cent. 

Asked by sociologists whether they approved of the work of the Russian government as a whole, still half of the respondents (51 per cent) said no. According to the Levada Centre, since May this figure has increased by five percentage points. The number of those dissatisfied with the Duma's work has increased by five percentage points as well (from 55 per cent to 60 per cent). 

During the survey, the respondents were asked to name politicians who they trusted most. 

In September, 36 per cent of respondents chose Putin, 23 per cent Dmitriy Medvedev, 10 per cent Moscow Region governor Sergey Shoygu, 8 per cent Communist Party leader Gennadiy Zyuganov and 8 per cent Liberal Democratic Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovskiy. 

The top ten also included Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill (6 per cent) and businessman Mikhail Prokhorov (5 per cent). Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, leader of the A Just Russia party Sergeyi Mironov and Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko got the support of 4 per cent of the respondents each. 

Twenty-two per cent of the respondents do not trust any Russian politician, according to Levada Centre. 

In a response to a separate question, 69 per cent of those polled said they supported the work of Patriarch Kirill, and 28 per cent did not approve of it. The Russian Orthodox Church as a whole is supported by 73 per cent, and disapproved of by 24 per cent.
