The roadshow of Russia’s new fast neutron reactor will kick off in autumn and go worldwide.
"The roadshow of the reactor is planned for autumn, all the materials have been prepared, and the financial model has been agreed upon. We will go worldwide, and I think we will attract partners. The project is quite successful,” Rosatom Deputy Director General Vyacheslav Pershukov announced at the VII International Forum Atomexpo, which is currently underway in Moscow.
The corporation demonstrated the reactor for its French partners at the forum and has already started to search for new partners.
"We have launched the construction stage of the project,” Pershukov said. "The first stage is the nuclear island [construction]. The pit has already been excavated, the contractors have been chosen, the license has been obtained, and the nuclear island project's examination has been completed.”
A license for the construction of the world’s largest multipurpose fast neutron reactor has been issued to Russia’s Research Institute of Atomic Reactors ((NIAR).
Rosatom plans to open an International Research Center as part of the reactor, which will study new types of nuclear fuel, engineering material and coolants. The reactor is also slated to be used for the production of isotopes for medical purposes and therapy for serious diseases.
