"They also touched on some important issues of strategic stability. We again drew our US partners' attention to the fact that Russia favors resuming regular dialogue on this issue, which was interrupted by the previous US leadership. It is up to Washington," the ministry said.
Moreover, Russia retains the right to impose retaliatory measures if the United States does not resolve the dispute over Russian diplomatic property that Washington seized late last year, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov and US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Thomas Shannon addressed the issue during negotiations in Washington on Monday, the ministry said.
"The Russian side stressed that if Washington does not remove this and other irritants, including the continued obstruction of our diplomatic missions' activities, we have the right to retaliate on the basis of the principle of reciprocity," the ministry said.
