Chances are running out for a diplomatic solution of the Syrian problem, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after his talks with Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad in Moscow on Thursday.
He warned against the continuation of ‘bloody chaos’ in Syria, which he said may become an ‘alternative to a peaceful solution.’
Lavrov signaled his country’s readiness to stick to the Geneva agreements on a bilateral ceasefire.
He blamed Russia’s partners for paying lip-service to the necessity of resolving the Syrian crisis by peaceful means.
Lavrov pointed out that having double-standards on the matter adds to further escalation of the conflict, terror threat and interethnic strife.
