Russian Govt. Approves ‘Antitrust Roadmap’
Published 7-01-2013, 13:39
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has approved a "roadmap” for a special program to promote competition and improve antimonopoly policy, the government press service said on Sunday.

The roadmap is designed to reduce the share of the state-controlled sector in the Russian economy and promote competition, especially in healthcare, the oil trade, communications, air transport, pharmaceuticals, and preschool education, the government said in a press release.

It aims to rectify the shortcomings that have been identified in the course of the program’s implementation, including the lack of clear-cut performance indicators and insufficient interaction with the business community.

The roadmap provides for a phased approach, in particular annual reprioritization procedure and progress review with a view to keeping the plan current and up to date.

Integrated indicators will be used to assess the implementation of the roadmap, including competitive environment development index, the number of new enterprises per 1,000 of people, and assessment of the competitive environment by the business community, the release said.
