Russia’s Black Sea, Baltic, Northern and Pacific fleets are going to stage large-scale military maneuvers in the Black and Mediterranean seas off the Syrian coast, the country’s Defense Ministry announced Friday.
"A tactical group of Black Sea Fleet warships led by the Moskva cruiser will stage a naval exercise in the eastern Mediterranean,” the source said.
He said the Ivan Bubnov replenishment tanker has refueled the ships and provided them with additional water supplies ahead of the war games, to test emergency crews and the level of their preparedness.
Earlier, the tanker loaded fuel, water and foodstuffs in the Cyprus port of Larnaca. Latest reports say the warships have already set sail for the training area.
